Its ALL about preference.
Everything has its ups and downs.
For my personal preference i do like automatic, i have no problem with it, but after the years i wish i have a manual. Borrowed a friends car(manual) and i just felt like i was more into it, i was enjoying it more.
Automatic - Easy to start with.
Manual - More Fun once you get the hang of it.
This is all MY opinion...

Honestly depends on the model of the car or how carefully you can vary the throttle with the motor
For example; if it's a car such as a stock camaro or even a civic i would choose automatic
And if it was a car such as a S2000 or a RX-7 i would choose manual because it's the only stick that car can comply with and it's really easy to shift with dynamic cars such as those.
or to make it short and shabby if you want a casual overall every day use car and plan to just drive it here and there use an automatic or if you want to start a build, get some speed or want to have extra content get a manual.

I drive a 1990 Mazda Miata right now. It's a 5 speed and my first 5 speed. All my other cars have been autos. Definitely prefer a 5 speed over an auto any day. And since my car is rwd, makes it even better! About to own a Honda that'll be a 5 speed. I think I'll stick to standards (manuals) the rest of my life.

NotesYo wrote Manuals all the way! They're more fun and actually are safer than automatics because it's way harder to talk/text and drive.
Also Manual Transmissions are cheaper to fix than and Automatic.
Wasn't going to say anything, but, talking and texting have nothing to do with how safe a manual is over an automatic. I drive both, and i keep my phone in the console or in my lap when i drive, and so does everyone else i know.
You choose to be "impaired" when you talk\text and drive. The transmission has nothing to do with it.

I'm from the UK and learnt to drive a manual as that is what we have over here. I've never drove an automatic car but manual seems a lot better in my opinion.
