He lives right next to me and I've checked if he downloaded and he has the digital version.

Once I went into games and apps and it did let me download one of his games, but once it was done I clicked on it and it said, installation is almost done, please sign into the account that purchased this item otherwise enter the disc.. I logged onto his account and tried to play it, but it had the same error. Any idea?

thats exactly what i was starting to think as if they own them on disc u cant share them due to the fact most people complained about DRM,If the DRM was left in place we would have been able to share disc copies with up to 10 close family members, but because they removed the DRM we lost that. personally i dont see why people complained about it, i know i didnt have a problem with it as i keep my games. im not going to pay $100 for a game two weeks later trade it in to EB Games and have them give me like $20 for it and then sell it for $10 less than a brand new copy.

he has to set your account as home on his xbox, and then same with his on yours. then you sign in on his account to initiate the downloads of his games and you can play on yours. (may not even have to be on his account to download everything but can't remember tbh)

See I gave him my account and he made it my home xbox on his and I did the same with his account on my xbox. Then I went on my account and tried downloading it, but I got that error I shows earlier. Maybe I have to download it from his account, but still it doesn't show it in my games and apps that the install is available.

when u are on ur mates account go to the store and it will give you the option to install, click install, when game has finished downloading/installing you can then sign out of ur mates account, log into yours and you will be able to play it
