That AMD will perform better but
I suggest you save up there really both low end cpu still good though I prefer intel more then amd so i5 or i7
BUT!
Depending on your gpu that AMD processor is amazing for games It will run any game in ultra depending on the GPU you have with it and other specs

Do you plan on putting a build together or are you upgrading your current build? If you're upgrading your current build just go for whichever CPU your motherboard is compatible with.

It really depends what you want to do with your PC and CPU. It also depends on if you plan to upgrade in the future. I'd personally recommend Intel over AMD but AMD's FX series of CPU's are still very good.

AMD, Pros: Brilliant overclocker (got mine to 4.1 without editing voltages)
easy to keep cool
MOAR CORES
cheap
Cons: Virtually no upgrade options other than the 8320, which isn't that big of a jump
Dying platform
INTEL, Pros: Hyper-threading
Many upgrades, i.e. can move to an i7 4770K on same motherboard
the i3 4150 is cheap
less cores, but higher single core performance
better efficiency
Cons: Upgrades are expensive
requires a better cooler to keep cool when overclocking than AMD.
I can't think of any more cons off of the top of my head.

Both great processors however Intel is more for schools and businesses.
AMD's are renowned for their gaming capabilities and since you're on this site, I just assumed that maybe you partake in gaming.
However I would save up for a much better one, add on like $80 odd and you'll be able to get a TOP end processor capable of playing and doing most things!
Depending on your graphics card and your RAM as well obviously.

R.
