You just need to wait for your mines and pumps to get gold/elixir, or raid for gold/elixir and slowly upgrade things. It will probably take you a while until you max TH 5.

I made the same mistake when wanting walls. I rushed to TH8. I've been trying to max it out for about 6-7 months now. I'm nearly done. I farm for most of my resources and keep my TH outside my base for an easy shield to keep my resources protected.

Just take it steady, train troops and attack when you can, create a farming base trophies don't matter, take it slow, just remember its not a race.

Trophies do matter when you are farming. You need to be in a good range of trophies so you can find bases with good loot. I stick to the 1600-1800 trophy range. I find bases with almost 400k loot.

Yeah, i thought that was obvious. As when your farming, or i do at least i never seem to rise/drop in trophies, thats why i don't take notice of them.
