Hi,I'm building a Pc with a friend and we are having some issues with a standoff screw in the case. It can not be removed. It goes through the motherboard hole and the rest of the screws line up but we are worried that it may be made of metal and damage the motherboard when the PSU is powered on.

Here is an image: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It's the corsair carbide spec01.

Is it safe for the motherboard to rest on this fixed standoff or is there something we need to do to it.

Help is very greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If that fixed one pokes through a hole on the motherboard that will be fine. If it doesn't, DO NOT rest the motherboard on it, you could either cut traces on the motherboard which are fragile, or you could short the board on the case.
