Remember when you could go in to a lobby and everybody would be talking. Nowadays people are in party chat with their friends. There's nothing wrong with that but it's better to meet new people and communicate with your teammates. I just got in to a lobby with some chill people and it's rare to find people like that. If I were to say "hello" in a lobby, I would get insulted right away lol.

You're probably playing the wrong types of games with immature little kids. I play World of Tanks and theirs always mature people talking in game chat, with a few exceptions. Now when I go play a different game, that's a different story. There'll be little kids talking "bad word" on Halo, CoD, GTA, and even UNO.
You just got to play a game at the right moment to find lobbies like that still. Search on MW2 is probably your best bet.

I'm that guy that is either in party chat or doesn't have a mic plugged in. I'm not a fan of talking to people I don't know. Plus, it cuts the possibility of people reacting to my southern accent. I stick to the more common gametypes anyway, like team deathmatch, so a mic really isn't needed.

The only exception I ever made about talking to people was during League Play. My mic would be in, and I would be in game chat, I would just mute my mic and stream music from my PC.
If I was playing Public Matches then call outs and such wouldn't really matter, I didn't really care if my teammates would cooperate with me or not.
I was never really on xbox during the "golden age" during Modern Warfare 2 when everyone was kind of a community. I started playing xbox right before Black Ops 1 came out.

Back in those days not many people acted like idiots and you could strike a conversation with them, but now. Good luck with that!

Mate I suggest you try Battlefield. I had the exact same problem as you. I was a big CoD fan and I all I found on my team was squeaky 7 year olds who I don't mind if they play the game properly. However I had had enough and I switched to Battlefield 4. Its awesome there is a lot of talking and when you play conquest each person is in their own individual squad. I think you should try battlefield!
