I have football film and I am trying to put together a highlight tape and the file is AVI. and it reads fine in VLC media player but when i Bring to Movie Maker it reads the file as only audio I downloaded new codecs and everything still not working any suggestions.

What codecs did you download? And what version of Windows are you running?
Firstly make sure you have the latest version of movie maker installed as it may be a silly mis-communication error with your graphics card also update your graphics card drivers if they are old too

This is very odd because no matter what format I use, movie maker just converts it into something that it can read.
