Simply put in the title, is the Kinect really necessary for the Xbox One? I know there are voice commands and such, just wanted to know before I buy it.

No its really not necessary but if you want to spend an extra $100, feel free.

It's not necessary anymore. If you want voice control on your Xbox though, then go for it.

That was my main concern, an extra $50-$100 for the Kinect if all you get is voice controls mostly then its in no way an interest of me

Its not completely necessary but I like it when I use it.

For me I love it for Skype video chat and "some" questers.
