He is leaving for more money.
Simple as that.
I dislike both the Heat and Lebron simply because the number on band wagon fans.
So I don't care where he goes.
I agree with you.
In my mind winning many championships is worth taking a pay cut.
but they need more depth if they're going to continue to win championships... they will always be contenders for many many years to come, but without that on-the-bench depth, they won't go deep into the playoffs or be championship bound for many of those years.
LeBron has already said he's not taking a pay cut. He's going to force Mickey Arrison and Pat Riley to go into the luxury tax to help him out. Bosh & Wade are already going to take the pay cuts.
The Heat will draft Shabaz Napier, and they will somehow get Carmelo Anthony as well, just to keep LeBron.

They all opted out so they could sign for less, except for Lebron who is going to get a max contract.
Wade and Bosh will sign for less, Norris Cole will be traded, and the Heat will come back better.

LeBron is staying with the Heat, he just wants to explore his options and he could not do that unless he opts out.

No.
LeBron opted out for one reason and one reason only.
To FORCE the Miami Heat to upgrade their roster.
