Me and Another member of my immediate family are splitting the price of parts for a PC we are building. Although, we both want separate hdd's. Does anyone know how you could boot only using a certain hdd?. Also would you have to buy 2 OS, or does the key run of the mobo not the HDD? As an alternative, I know you can run the os on a SSD, but is there a way of having it on both HDD's? I don't want to have to get an SSD, but if there is no other way I will.

Install Windows, use the key to activate it, then clone the install to the second drive. Msconfig will let you choose which installation to boot to at startup or you can use the Windows bootloader by editing the boot.ini file. It may generate the entry automatically.
