In the 1800's the world could be self sufficient from sunlight alone, enough food etc to go around. but we as humans began to tamper and find out about things like oil etc. That is where our population started to increase something like this..
Year 1800 AD - 1,000,000,000 People in the world.
127 Years later - 2,000,000,000 (doubled in population after 127 years)
47 Years later - 4,000,000,000 (doubled again in population after just 47 years)
That takes us up to 1974 and from 1974.
From 1947 - 2011 the population increased a by a further 3 billion people.
We are predicted to reach over 8,000,000,000 people before 2030.
So my question to you is at some point in the next 50-100 years when we completely run out of oils and fuels, what do you think we will be able to do to sustain a world possibly full of 10 billion people? when to date there is already enough poverty and famine in the world.
I know green energy is a good idea and all but do we realistically think that we will be able to harness enough energy and resources for 10 billion people?
It would be interesting to hear peoples thoughts on the future, what might happen?.. Possibly discuss the fact that we as humans are curing diseases that quite clearly have a purpose to cut down the population of earth in order to reach a natural equilibrium.
My views are, Yes I think its great that people are cured from diseases, but I actually have cancer myself. I'm not personally sure on taking treatment due to the fact that I believe these sort of things are part of natural selection and happen to us so that the world does not get over crowded.
I'd love to hear peoples views, maybe you can open up my mind to a brighter future.

Watching Utopia I see.
I dont think we should worry too much.
1 - There are other ways to create energy, just the governments cant charge for them yet
2 - We will be using other planets by then
3 - 50-100 years from now I will be compost so I dont actually care, selfish view I know but hey thats my view

Nothing in my opinion. It'll be over for all of us.
Everyone just thinks "eh, we'll be fine, we'll find something". No... we won't. I personally don't believe that. Humans will die out at some point in my opinion and that time is near I believe. Like you just said, population is growing way too fast. We can't even be kind to one another yet, all these pointless wars going around, no one helps the homeless, children without parents, economies falling apart, etc.
You'll know when it's our time.

The end is terminal. its coming at some point its just how long we delay it, Such a smart race with so many capabilities, so much wasted by our greed and bitterness.

How can you be certain that the person you are punishing is guilty?

we can never be certain that the person we are punishing is actually guilty, it's happened so many times the wrong person being killed etc, so for me this would sort it out but would be a big controversy.

These are exactly my thoughts, you really wouldn't get away with it in modern countries, maybe 3rd world countries. (as some still do)
