To be honest here and this is my opinion. It looks like you took a cc and a texture and just put it over the image. But it looks okay from here, maybe because I'm not a graphics designer.

What is I told all edits were made with photoshop tools, no external resources used, so no I didn't 'take a CC and add a texture'

I like the color of the image that you edited better than that of the original.
However, the triangles and various other shapes within the piece killed it for me.

I really REALLY like the colour map/filter you have added ot really changes the mood of the stock but still adds 'depth' to the light penetrating the water. The whole abstract malarky detracts somewhat from the beauty of the stock but i can see why you added it
