No price on the memory so factor that into the overall price. Also the cooler isn't required and you could torrent the OS to save money. Otherwise good, and in answer to your question; yes.

It seems like a decent build, you dont need a cpu cooler for i5's especially if you're only going to be running dayz. If you'd like to spend a little more I would go with the i5 4670k or 4670. For the ram get a 2x4gb rather than a 1x8gb, it puts less stress on the one stick and it will allow for faster transitions between programs.

If he got a K Series i5 or i7, he'd then need a Z Series motherboard to allow for overclocking so it would vastly up the price. Also the use of dual RAM sticks has nothing to do with stress or faster transitioning, its actually to do with the overall throughput gained when you run the memory in dual channel mode.

an i5 Quadcore is a good processor. just make sure that fan can keep the CPU cool. dont want a meltdown.
