RWBY is something I specifically steered clear of, Since the Roosterteeth people made it I would not be able to take it serious. Even if the show was serious.

You should try and watch an episode because it is kinda serious but also has a funny side and the voice acting is actually pretty professional

I can't stand it, I hate how it's considered anime literally(It's on crunchy roll's anime section). It's soo bad even though my friend likes it

I think i am going to watch this so i can insult at least one side of the argument

Edit: Well after bearing through as much of the first episode as possible, until 6:30 when i outright dropped it (mainly because i like serious shows, highly dislike misplaced slapstick and generic plot etc) i guess i can give some opinions. Keep in mind that just because i couldn't bear through the show, doesn't mean i'm just doing to rip on it for an entire post

Now... I personally think that RWBY would be an excellent entry level for people that have not been exposed to anime in the past, or have been holding back due to misplaced precedents. While a little silly at times, from what i have watched you really have to appreciate it's quality for a YouTube series, the art is pleasant, the voice acting is on par with what i would expect and all up it seems like it would develop into quite an interesting watch for people who stick with it. A large problem that i found whilst watching it is that i simply found the subject matter too generic. As i said, this would be an excellent entry level but for people like me who have watched >100 days of anime you end up mentally comparing shows to other shows, whilst drawing similarities between them. Within the first 2 minutes of watching i managed to draw the conclusion that it just felt like a hybrid between Soul Eater and something aimed at pre/early teens on television. Now for people who are into that stuff, i wouldn't call that bad but one of those people are not myself.

I will also jump right in and talk about some things that bugged me with the overall presentation, yet keep in mind that i do need to take into account that this isn't a big budget show like many developed in Japan. The first thing that got me was the really awkward pauses throughout the characters speech, it made everything feel unnatural, boring and odd and i personally thought that the show would greatly benefit from a good soundtrack. The pacing was near ruined at the start, whilst it set out a "magical" feel to the plot line within the first minute, followed by a mobster guy pulling out a lazer gun (refer to my reaction [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ). Apart from that... as mentioned above the generic plot didn't go well with me but that is what makes it such a good entry level so i digress. I would likely have much more opinions but again, i only watched a small portion to get a 'taste' of the quality of the show

Well overall, i have mixed opinions on the overall quality but i have written more than enough for a 6 minute impression. Hopefully this can assist in not making this thread become a complete flame war followed by Naggy banning every single one of us. Simply try to weigh out the show through multiple different perspectives before completely ripping it to shreds

Dean don't even try commenting back, just go back to your corner and play CSGO

That's not really nice, I mean sure it's not the most professional looking show and I now know it's not an anime but I still think it is pretty good and the new season is much better than the first so far. So if anyone hasn't watched it please don't judge it !

I'm not exactly gonna join in with the Anime or not argument here, because that never gets anywhere, but here's my honest opinion on this show.

I'm not a big fan of the animation in RWBY, judging by the trailers at least, the whole thing seems a little jumpy to me and I'm not really into 3d art-styles, this just looks like a typical MMD video.

The voice acting for some characters however, isn't half bad, judging by the last trailer but a lot of them still seem kinda off to me ;-;

Personally, the quality of animation means a lot to me in any kind of animated show I watch, it doesn't exactly seem to be smooth based on the trailers shown in the OP and this kinda makes me want to avoid RWBY...

Edited my initial post on page 2 with some non-biased opinions. Suggest giving it a read before this thread erupts into an endless sea of fire and banning
