I am a Junior in High School and my parents are not letting me buy a desktop for gaming and photography; in edition I personally have all the money to pay for it - $750. My parents are quite old fashioned and see no need for this "advanced technology" but I like to innovate in the future. My old 360 has finally died and my laptop is about to, so both of my hobbies are nearly gone. They are not giving me my bank account info though I constantly put money into it, so I cannot buy it without at least one saying yes.
Can somebody think of some more ideas for an argument - here is more info...
They think I should get a $150 laptop instead because "the quality is the same" and that I don't need a 360.
I have tried not calling it a gaming computer.
I told them I need it to work on my art faster/ better.
I told them it will last me through collage.
I told my mom she could have my laptop.
I told them games would be a lot cheaper.
There was extended family testimonies to the quality.
I get good grades(A-B) and am very advanced classes.
I am in sports and extracurricular activities along with volunteering sometimes.
I just don't know what else to do or say to them to finally convince them, anything helps.
Thanks -Carver

If you really want it, technically it's your money, regardless of what they say, you can buy it lol, but that will more than likely just anger them.

Get a teacher to tell them you need something faster than a craptop.
Build it anyway.

Tell them that it is a workstation and that you absolutely need it for the work that you will be doing. Do not even mention the word game

How old are you, 16? I am not sure since i don't know american school ages. Just tell them you have earned the money, you wanna spend it... not their money unless they are the ones giving it you haha.

Tell them to STFU, and give you your money which is yours not theirs. If they say no, slap ya dad so he knows that you mean business. If they still say no punch ya mum, if that still doesnt work just take their stuff to sell it and buy the PC, also take a dump on their bed.

you can't use a 150 dollar laptop for school trust me. it's useless. If they really want you to buy a laptop that is good enough even for school it needs to be at least 300-400 dollars. but a pc is always better in that case, and well I think your parents are the kind of people that still think gaming is bad for you. Thanks to gaming i got my degree in process engineering because you need to be able to relax and do something you like once in a while.
I think that if you could show your parents that your school work won't suffer they really can't complain.
