I went to the gym today to workout and after doing my normal routine I decided to do some pull ups to work my lats and back. How ever there were 3 other guys doing pull ups and one of them was skinny(5'4" 109lbs) and he was working out on the pull up bar next to me he did 20 pull ups then dropped and got back on the bar and did some more. I about 5'10" 195lbs I have a lot of muscle mass and I did 5 pull ups before I had to drop down and do some more. The skinny guy made the comment to one of his friends and said "He is buff for no reason, cant even do 20 pull ups". I wanted to avoid conflict so I left and went to do some pull downs and they followed me and got on the machine next to me and I put 200lbs on the machine and I was doing sets of 5. The skinny tried to mimic me and he tried 200lbs as well but he couldnt even pull the bar down once. Then he made another comment to me directly and said lets handle this on the pull up bar again I ignored him and continued with my workout. My real question is does being skinny make pull ups easier ?

Just ignore them, Some guys just act like alpha males at gyms and try to act all tough.

you arent weak the skinny guy just tried to be a dick and succeeded and him being skinnier makes it easier to do pull ups thats less true since you weigh less you can pull yourself up easier

Definitely not bro, he has a lot less weight to pull up, he couldn't match your weight on the pulldowns that pretty much settles it right there

No, being skinny does not make pull-ups easier (at least for me it doesn't, YMMV), and those guys sound like insecure douchebags.

The reason I am wondering because im oblivious stronger than him but he did 20 to my 5. Im in the delayed entry program for the Marines and based on our PFT standards he would have pass the pull up part with a 100. and i would have just barley made it over the minimum.

pull ups are mostly in the arms so do stuff to make your arms stronger then you will start doing more pull ups

Im trying to work my way up to 30 pull ups before January so I was thinking of dropping some weight before then but I would have to burn muscle. i only have 14% body fat.
