You are allowed to use reasonable force. Dont be stupid guys and argue against a law that is not there.

There's a law which means you have to use reasonable force.

Someone who actually checked up on the law, I applaud you sir
There was a case a while back where a criminal who broke into someones house successfully sued the person who's house he broke into, as the home owner savagely attacked him and nearly killed him.
I'm all for reasonable force, but is there any need for you to beat someone within an inch of their life for entering your home unwanted etc?
Yes, yes there is. Is the USA you are lucky to get out alive if the people are in the house because most people are gun owners. I am disgusted that you CAN'T do that in the UK.

Personally I would disagree with you, a perpetrator in this sense could have a whole host of reasons for breaking in, you don't need to kill someone who isn't baring any immediate threat. Most people who break into houses in the UK do so with no weapons and run off in any sort of alarm or disturbance occurs, no need for guns or knives etc.

I read online that some ex mma fighter's house was getting robbed and he killed the robber and he had to wait to find out if he was getting prosecuted or not. Turns out it went in his favour and didnt get any jail time.

Dusknoir wroteJustSuko wroteDusknoir wrote It's like that but in some places if they are armed then you are allowed to shoot to kill. It's stupid but half the time it doesn't stick in court.
Oh okay just i think it shouldnt matter what you do the Trouble maker he did the Crime on his own occord!
They do that to encourage you to run away and call the police, due to you or others getting hurt.
On your property you have no legal obligation to run away in the face of an aggressor.

I know for a fact at least in Florida we have a Stand Your Ground Law. If you are attacked or put in harms way intentionally by a human, you have the right to fight back with as much force as you'd like. And I know for a fact that if someone breaks into your home you have every right, if you have legal guns in your possession, to kill them if not harm that so that Police can deal with them.
That law is very ridiculous y'all have.

From my personal experience of this I'd like to let you know the laws arent 100% accurate as they said it was.
When I lived in Reading, our house was broken into (my parents where out so I was on my own) I heard noises down stairs so I grabbed my bat next to my bed went down there was a bloke there same ish height as me and build so I put it down, I allowed him to hit me first so I threw back with my weight he ran out with 100gbp worth of stuff (not much at all) The police sure enough found him hiding in a skip.. got my money back and he apologised. So as long as you don't cause them a huge amount of damage it's fine!

Having a bat / weapon next to your bed is actually pre meditated and i know someone who got in a sticky situation with the law because of it
