A character death that can bring sadness and tears in the audience that feels very attached with a specific character after time, Characters that are very liked. Suggest me 1 Character that had a saddening ending, But I'll suggest 2 characters.
In the Infamous series, with Cole McGrath & Zeke Dunbar. Infamous 2 had 2 sad endings in it, but saddest was Cole sacrifices himself. Sad because Sucker Punch has made the game carry on with that ending, and thus we had to say goodbye to the superhero everyone loved.
The ending that carried the series...
In The Walking Dead Game: Season 1, Lee Everett. The audience in the series was crucially sad after seeing him die like that. In Season 2, there will be alternative endings depending what the player has picked. But there is 1 ending is very dramatic and saddening that I'll just let users watch the endings themselves rather then describing it. I'll say It's a test in loyalty since Day 1 in the series. I watched all the finale endings yesterday and saw the results players picked, I was very surprised but I'll just leave it at that.

The saddest death to me was John Marston in Red Dead Redemption.

One of the saddest video game deaths for me, was Mordin Solus in Mass Effect 3.

I literally could not hold my tears back when I was playing this game. The reason that it was so saddening for me was I had played all the other games and he had always been there and then to see him sacrifice himself for the good of the Krogans that hated him made me cry like a baby.
I am actually about to cry all over again just typing this up.

That's the Noble Team. They pretty much did master chief's work for him but ended up dying in the process. That mother **** noble 6 went out with a bang. He's so cool he's not even in the picture. except jun. he didn't die

Hmmmm saddest death.. I would have to say that the saddest death was Nagisa from Clannad and Clannad After Story. It is not a video game, but it is an anime, and made me cry like an idiot. The build up to it gets you so emotionally involved and it is like a slap to the face after it happens, so that would be the saddest non IRL death I have experienced.

Grimlock wroteHe isn't dead. Even IW confirmed he wasn't.
OP: I would say Gaz from CoD4. Dude was a beast and he was just executed.
