im wondering, if im trying to gain rep for dead orbit and have the cape allready. does the emblem help gain more also???
just wondering because people say it does for the event but idk about dead orbit

No the emblem has no effect on the amount of rep you gain otherwise it would say so. Only the "Class Armor" pieces determine if your rep gained will go to vanguard or the faction that is coordinated to.
