Sanctyy wrote You definitely do need help if you're buying Alienware.

a MacBook would be a good choice

It never is a good choice
and how do you figure this? MacBooks are very well built and have great support. For a laptop, a macbook would be fine since laptops are mainly only used for work, internet browsing and watching videos. A MacBook would be perfect for that.

Just my opinion, but probably the price, MacBooks are not cheap, and if you're only using it for browsing the internet & general college work, a Laptop for half the price will do it just as good.

Go with Asus OR consider building your own desktop. Building a PC isnt as hard as it seems, and you can get A LOT more for your money. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Check em out. GL

Edit: Don't get a Macbook unless you have 1-2k you're willing to throw away. Stick with windows. #AppleIsADisgrace

You can also survive on bread and water, but it's not going to be a very good experience. Macbooks are high-end and are priced as such because of their battery life, displays, build quality, support, software, etc. There are expensive Windows laptops that are the same way.

Illustrated wrote The problem with that computer is the OS. Windows 8 is a big no.

It's still a perfectly fine OS with support for another 6 years

Can you give me a full list OS support that doesnt include pointless updates or indian phone support lines?

Seeing as you're posting on a forum site for free advice, you already know the solution.
