A lot of fine dine / pub style restaurants could always use a dish boy.

It's certainly worth looking through local businesses to see if they're hiring
The bigger firms (e.g. Tesco, McDonalds) tend to have a lot of people competing for jobs but you could try if you're feeling lucky
Also, get family members to ask around at the places they work. You're not going to get anything fancy obviously but it's better than not having a job

Well I'm also a 16 Y/o living in Australia tho,
And in the past year I've taken on two jobs,
McDonalds
Horrible pay, but it was good to get out and amongst it, and get in some work experience, it's not a bad little gig, although you do get sick of it quite fast. But it's a nice little job for us 16 Year olds.
Second (Current)
Is a Cafe which I love, I serve, do barista (Coffee making ect*), Waiter food to people. Don't forget the occasional *Hot* Girl that comes past which just makes your day so much more interesting.
But in reality, it's all upto what you like, if you can find a job, and you like it. then it doesn't really matter.
