Formally, I have always been interested in the concept of a modified xbox for games mods that you can do while playing. The thing is I would just simply like some rundown information on how hosting etc works. I have always wanted to purchase a console of my own and host, but is it worth it?

Overall a RGH xbox is a great console, Now you're wanting to know about hosting? well you run a patch on a thing called a xex menu and you get a KV witch is unbanned and xbox live stealth witch you probs don't have a clue about & that's how it works & like the other guy said, YouTube is your answer.

If you buy a console and want to start hosting, do not expect to make a profit. You should buy a console for your personal use whether it be for modding, playing backups, or whatever reason it may be.
Consoles can range from anywhere between $100-300.
The lower end consoles:
Xenon (JTAG) $100: Super easy to RROD. Cheapest console.
Zephyr: (JTAG) $120: Still likely to RROD.
The middle:
Falcon (RGH/JTAG) $130 RGH2 / $150-170 RGH1 / $200 JTAG: The console most people get, RROD is possible, but not very likely. RGH1 and JTAG are super good having instant boot times. RGH2 can be iffy as boot times can range from instant to 2 minutes.
Jasper (RGH/JTAG) $150 RGH2 / $170-200 RGH1 / $200+ JTAG: More reliable than a Falcon, as it has improved cooling. RROD is 1%. Can be a pain if it is a big block console (16mb is small block / 128mb and 256mb are big block.)
The high end:
Trinity/Corona (RGH2) $180+: Most reliable console out. Both motherboards are nearly the same, but Coronas are newer. RGH2 times can be really iffy, as it can range from instant to 2 minutes. RROD is nearly unheard of in the Slims.

you don't sound like you know what your on about yourself mate, everyone knows what you just said, he obviously wants a more in depth version instead of mocking him because he doesn't know much

Don't get one if your sole intention is to host. You'll get bored within a day or two and then you'll regret wasting the money on a console which will then be stuffed away in a corner, never to be used again.
