I doubt you get "locked" to NZ servers, it just doesn't seem likely.
Now, lets say you do get locked in. Simply make a call and have them change it, with the same excuse I used above. If they refuse to change it, well that's illegal, so you shouldn't be concerned with "lag" or any of that nonsense. Most likely it's a scare tactic so you don't have everyone and their mothers doing this method to get the game early.

If you go away somewhere for a week, you wouldn't really change your location, at least I wouldn't.

If you did, then just change it back. You are able to do it as many times as you want if you change the console's location, it's if you change your account location that it becomes locked to that region for 3-4 months. You don't need to change your accounts location for this trick.

You won't be locked to Australian servers. This is because the game searches for low ping games first, so you will always go to more local games. It doesn't mater where you bought/downloaded the game from.

I don't believe there is anyway to know for certain until 11hours from now when the game comes out in NZ. Everyone's best bet is to search videos/tutorials on how the successful people did it for Destiny...... Which I'll be doing after I eat

I don't think this will work, they are actually releasing it at a specific time, it doesn't just unlock at midnight for your timezone. It's out at 00:00 EST, but for Pacific, it's out at 21:00 for them, aka when they get it for Pacific, EST will be getting it. So if you switch to New Zealand, it won't be available till whatever time 00:00 EST is in NZ.

It does unlock at your timezone. It unlocks at midnight at your timezone. It even says in the description of the game if you go on the xbox website that it will unlock at 00:01 of the timezone that you're in.

I live in the UK and I bought mine from the US store to save money. I've effectively downloaded this game twice now, as I purchased mine from the US store, I didn't download it from there, I downloaded it from the UK one, and earlier today, I deleted it, changed my locale to NZ and re-downloaded it, it's currently on 70% and when it reaches Monday in NZ, it'll be around 11 AM UK time I think.

I have a feeling it won't work, but I guess I'll find out in the morning.

It should work! But I meant to say 3:00 AM on November 3rd. Obviously it cocmes out in the physcial copy at 12:00, but digitally, if not 12:00, then sometime between 12:00 and 3:00
