well I have a laptop and I want to use another monitor so I have more space I have the second monitor connected to my laptop via vga but when I plug it in nothing Appears so I reset my laptop and then my laptop screen stays black and my external monitor turns on and displays my laptop screen when I go to personalise it only shows one monitor even when I click detect any help? +rep for resolving? I'm also on windows 7!

You usually need to press function key + [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (key that looks like that) Depending on the brand of laptop and type of GPU you may have to press it a couple times for it to go into mirrored mode.
