Simple fix - Buy a PS2 keyboard.
The reason why this happens is sometimes, for the keyboard to work, Windows needs to install the drivers. Since your not loading into windows, it cannot download/install the drivers making the keyboard useless.
With a PS2 keyboard, it doesn't need drivers. It just plugs in & works.
You have to make sure that your motherboard supports a PS2 keyboard though.
