For gaming you will want look for Response time. The lower the response time the better. My monitor has 2ms response time.

1600x900? Lol, ew. Even 1080p is beginning to become low end now. Response time is not the most important factor when it comes to choosing monitor, you won't notice much difference between a 1ms and 6ms response time monitor.

Well it depends what games he plays if he plays FPS then is is a huge factor and i had 5ms monitor and i can tell the difference

Unless you need amazing eyesight for whatever job you have, most peoples eyes can't notice the difference between a 1ms and 6ms response time. Plus, it'd be wiser to get a higher resolution or better colours than to get a monitor with lower response time.

Insert a tv from tesco as a monitor l. You'll be fine ;)
