So I can't do a push up and when I ask people they just laugh at me and never tell me how to begin to do them.
I really need to know how to do them so can anybody tell me how to start doing push ups when I can't even do 1.

Is the problem that you just dont know how your posture should be when doing one, or you feel you aren't strong enough to push your bodyweight of the ground?

Grab some dumbells and chest press them, build up to a good weight then ask them if they can lift that weight

Start out with Planks. hold them for as long as you can.

Then just work off that.

If you want to know how to start learning them for your own reasons, start by keeping your knees on the floor and work your way up from there.

If you want to know how to do them because people are making fun of you then...
"Do you." Cliche I know, but it's right, whatever it is you're good at, keep at it, and then ask them if they can do it and make fun of them right back.

By the way man, although I agree with the premise of working your muscles to start before going in for an exercise you can't quite do yet, I feel I should say that the push-up/press-up predominantly uses your chest and shoulders, so if you feel you need to work up strength first try to focus these, however can't hurt to getting bigger guns too!

If posture is your problem man my tip is just focus on keeping your back ruler straight, between you feet touching the floor, and your head, your body should sort of form a rectangle triangle, with your hands as the opposite side, if your back isnt straight, you won't reap te benefits of doing the press up
