Okay, here's an interesting tidbit:

Why we don't have to be at war with the Fallen/Cabal.

I'll start with the Fallen.

Most people can agree that before the Traveler appeared on Mars, that the Fallen were in possession of the Traveler, giving them their own 'Golden Age'. There are a few theorys that say when the Darkness found the Traveler, it fled to Mars, leaving the Fallen's civilization in ruins. This would explain why they scavenge on Earth, and have some organization in their Houses.

But, why are they attacking Humans/Earth? Because they're trying to steal the Traveler back.

This also explains why they attack the Vex and the Hive; they can't allow the Traveler to be destroyed, as it's their only chance to have a civilization. They protect Earth from the Darkness, but at the same time are trying to take it.

Maybe we could somehow 'share' the Traveler's light. Help the Fallen rebuild their civilization.

Now, to the Cabal;

The Cabal aren't really on the offensive at all. Their only apparent goal is to stop the Vex from expanding their influence by using their planet mover/destroyer thing.

The Cabal are indeed a military empire, but couldn't they just take Earth and either destroy the Traveler or take it for themselves? They seem pretty content with Mars (until we waltzed over and killed one of their command.).

Apologies if I don't know more about the Cabal, but from what I've seen, it looks like we just declared war on them because they had control of Mars. If the Vanguards could get over it for now, the Cabal could've helped us destroy the Black Garden.

But, why these two groups? Because they aren't even a part of the Darkness.

Have you seen the Fallen or the Cabal wield dark energy like the Hive? You'd think the Darkness would give them some of the Darkness energies to battle the light, especially the Fallen.

Thanks for reading, guys.

Because they're ruthless? From the Fallen grimoire:
The Fallen are ruthless scavengers. Brutal and uncaring, they arrived on their massive Ketches in the wake of the Collapse to loot and pillage our devastated worlds.

There are hints of ancient nobility to the Fallen - the scars of lost grandeur. The Kells of their scattered Houses still claim to be royalty. But they leave only grief and wreckage in their wake.

Here's another one, about a "friendly" Captain:
She did the strangest thing then. Took the last shock pistol from her bandolier and threw it between us, as if to offer it. When I went to pick it up she tried to knife me, but she was slow, and when I broke her arms and opened her throat she didn't seem surprised.

To this day I wonder if she hated me, or wanted to make me kill her, or just felt she should spare me the choice.

That one shows how they can be friendly?

About the Cabal:
Tactically efficient, disciplined, and unrelenting, the Cabal are the greatest known military force in the system. Their origins and ultimate objectives are a mystery, but it seems clear they have conquered more worlds than humanity has ever known

Make with this as you will.

While those are interesting points, I never called them 'friendly'. If they are trying to retake the Traveler, they will obviously not hesitate to kill anything in their way.

The Cabal, I don't really know what you meant with this. I did acknowledge that they were a military empire.

*Here, I think some people aren't understanding what I'm saying:

I'm giving the possibility that, if humanity would, join forces with the Fallen/Cabal, against the Hive/Vex, if it makes any sense.

Ah, okay, now I see.

But, I do have a question for you, Corgi, or anyone here: who started the war on Mars, humanity or the Cabal?

Admittedly, I myself don't know, and just assumed humanity started it because we broke through their defenses, hacked their network, killed leaders, etc.
