If you had minecraft for the old gen systems there was an option to upgrade to next gen for $5 soon after the release of the next gen version. You only had a limited time to upgrade for that price though.
Anyway i think its worth getting if you enjoy MC. There are some new options for world size and host options. There are 50 achievements for 1000G instead of what it was on last gen. The chunk rendering distance is farther and the lag is not as bad. Plus it doesnt take forever to save and load your worlds.. You can also transfer your last gen maps to next gen and any dlc you had will also be there for free. Hope I helped...

Seems the same but for $5 why not, graphics seem a little better as well but that's just me.
