The only reason it would be seen as "throwing your life away" is because you hang out with a judgmental crowd.
If I want to drink and do drugs that's my choice, if you're my friend and can't respect my decision (whether you agree with it or not) you're a shitty friend.
Unless those habits become a serious issue, let the person enjoy it.
Life is too short to live like an after school special.
Yeah fair enough point there, I just don't enjoy seeing friends fall behind due to drink and whatnot. Yeah, go out and enjoy life but know your limits to a few things.

wrote It's one thing to turn a blind eye ok but do NOT encourage it
I don't consider parents buying children alcohol is encouraging it really. I mean, there are kids that are 16 or 17 whose parents consider them old enough to drink socially and don't mind their children doing so. They then purchase alcohol for their kids so that they don't have to stand at a corner waiting for someone dodgy to walk past and ask them to jump in to the shop to buy alcohol for them. Parents would rather buy their children a small bottle of vodka, or something that won't get them into a state, rather than have them mugged or attacked by some stranger because they asked them to buy alcohol. IMO, turning a blind eye and letting your child roam the streets, looking for dodgy people to buy them alcohol is much worse than just buying them something small. I, myself, am 17 and I get served in the majority of places anyway. I buy alcohol for my friends, not because I am immature or anything, but because it's safer than having them sit and wait on some drug addict or alcoholic to come along. Before I looked old enough to buy alcohol without ID, my mum or dad would buy me alcohol because they knew I could be trusted and that I would not got into a horrible state. I can control my drink and only ever drink socially, either at parties or on special occasions which they're absolutely fine with since I don't go overboard.
As for smoking, young kids have always smoked, it just happens. It shouldn't, but it does, that isn't specific to our generation at all. Neither are drugs. In fact, if anything, drug consumption has been decreasing, other than cannabis, which as we know, isn't all that bad for you which is obvious with it being legalised in more and more places.
I think that every generation thinks their own generation is messed up and rightfully so, the entire human race is messed up to a certain extent but there's nothing abnormal with teenagers smoking, drinking, taking drugs and/or experimenting, it's a part of life now and has been for a very long time.
Social networking, now that pisses me off. Well and truly. Alas, there is nothing that can be done about it. Technology is good, but I feel like the rate at which technology is growing and adapting to become a part of everyday life is pathetic. People rely on sites like FaceBook and Twitter for news articles and what not now, which is wrong. As for the kids who sit around on their phones, it's mainly just younger kids and that's because at 13, 14 and even 15, many kids are socially awkward, their hormones are going crazy and they don't really know what's going on with their body or what to do about it so become anxious and socially awkward, being able to bury themselves into their phone calms them down so that doesn't particularly bother me. What does bother me is adults, people my age and older who are constantly on their phone, ignoring conversation and being rude. Go ahead and take selfies all you want, go ahead and read your FaceBook timeline, just don't do it whilst I'm trying to partake in conversation with you.
As for n00ds, with technology and phones becoming a part of everyday life, people will send pictures like that to others, it just happens. If phones were around in the 60's, it would have probably happened then. Heck, back in the 60's, girl would take pictures of themselves naked, have them produced and then post them to musicians that they enjoyed. It's disgusting regardless, unless you're in a real relationship where both people are truly in love and care for each other, then I'd make an exception but there's still not really any need for it. Then again, those guys that trick girls into sending them pictures by telling them they 'love' them and what not, and then decide to share the picture with everyone and post it online, those pricks are pathetic.o
Also, just want to add, you complain that this generation is messed up and doing stupid things, when you hide the fact that you smoke from your parents. I let my parents know what I do. I live under their roof so they have a right to know where I am when I go out and they deserve to know that I smoke. I'm an adult and can make decisions for myself, whether they be good or bad, either way, I'm not going to hide it from my parents. Hiding the fact that you drink/smoke illegally from your parents, is worse than the actual activity itself IMHO. If you take hard drugs, then you're probably better off not telling your parents, but that's it. A lot of people experiment with drugs that are worse than cannabis, myself included once or twice but you won't get addicted after one try. You're only going to get addicted to hard drugs if you want to and that's your own fault. I feel like trying drugs is good, or for me it was anyway because I realised that I never particularly enjoyed it.
Growing up is about learning what your limits are and not going over them.
Also, when I talk about harder drugs, I obviously don't mean stuff that's going to kill you. There are hard drugs out there that you can OD on, but won't die from after taking it once. That stuff, I feel is fine to experiment with. Stuff like ecstasy which you can find that has been mixed with lots of different shit and can actually kill you, even if it's the first pill you've ever taken, that shit is stupid and you should stay clear. That's how I go about it anyway. If I want to try something, I make sure it won't easily kill me first, unless it's my own fault. If it is my own fault, then so be it.
