I want to get a prototype for something that I am working on (proprietary at the moment so I can't really say what). It is going to be made out of plastic and I was wondering if there is anybody on this forum that knows who or what website or a number I can call to talk to someone about getting a certain number of my product manufactured for testing in China? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

RGH2 wrote What kind of product are you making? It's basically a plastic cup with a top that has a few movable plastic parts and some other stuff that I can get a hold of. What I really need made is the plastic body of the cup because it is a specific size and shape.

How are you looking to get it done? Injection molded or other ways?
Have a look at local small size companies first, try keep things within the local economy

You wont get it much cheaper getting it built in China. You are looking at material costs, probably low quality and then the manufacturing, if you are having a few movable parts that are made from a plastic which have to be pretty accurate I presume, it shows that you may be using a 3D Printer or a Injection moulding with a mould needed so it costs even more. Then shipping from China can be expensive. I would recommend going local for everything as it would be better and the quality would be higher and since its a prototype changes can be made locally easier and therefore more money saved if you were going to China.
So just to summarise I would go local it will be better for the long run.
EDIT: Just some things to consider since you are hoping to use injection moulding.
- Unless you have your own CAD drawing you may have to get someone to draw you one = Cost
- The mould will cost + the use of the moulding tools
- The use of Injection Moulding equipment will cost
Hope you are willing to spend on this prototype

Labour would be cheaper yes, but then you have to pay for freight and import. Which would bring it back up to pretty much same as what you would pay locally.
Definitely look for companies that do injection molding in the nearest cities or towns.
