We all know that Lizard Squad or Lizard Patrol took PSN and XBL offline yesterday, but it looks like they are moving on to Tor today. They claim to control around 3000 of about 8000 relay nodes of the Tor network using a Tor 0day exploit. If they control all nodes, they could leak anonymous data that is being sent and received on Tor. Check out the article to read more.

What is Tor? Here's a link for those who don't know: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

EDIT: At about 6:00 P.M. Mountain Time Anonymous demanded Lizard Squad to stand down from their Tor attacks.

Hey @LizardMafia don't **** with the Tor network. People need that service because of corrupt governments. Stand the **** down.

Lizard Squad replied with:

Do something. @YourAnonNews

Things could get more heated between the two as anonymous demands the group to relinquish their hold on the nodes. Stay up to date by checking out Lizard Squad's Twitter @LizardMafia and Anonymous' Twitter @YourAnonNews

EDIT: As of about 7:30 Mountain Time, GDK Jordie (supposed leader of Lizard Squad) has tweeted that police are at his door and released the following picture:

We can only hope that he will be apprehended.

Honestly don't understand the reason behind these attacks. I understand anonymous' attacks but The Lizard Squad are targeting companies just to show that they are dominant. I don't know if they get a kick out of it or crave power but its ruined many peoples Christmas', including mine to an extent due to them not being able to enjoy their long-awaited consoles paid for by their hard earned money. Im sure Im not alone when I say that.

I agree. They claimed to attack yesterday because they "weren't taken seriously". I think this is all just a power trip by some insecure people who have nothing else in their lives.

Tor is a network and browser used for the purpose of staying anonymous online. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Tor Is "The Onion Router"
Its basically internet that cant be accessed by google and to search it instead of going to something like google and being redirected to the server with what you are trying to get to you a send a message from one person to another to keep your browsing anonymous it also allows people to host dodgy sites that they dont want people finding.

To make matters worse, The Finest Squad were adding fuel to the fire by making statements like, 'The Lizard Squad will not DDOS servers on Xmas'. This left them feeling like they had to prove themselves and be taken seriously or they would be a laughing stock.

There are some people who use Tor for legitimate purposes, but yes, it will be bad new for people who use Silk Road and similar services.
