I have a build but not sure if the 8 core is worth the money or if the 6 core won't be much of a difference. my budget is $625

Neither. For that budget get yourself an Intel Core i5 or a Pentium G3258.
AM3+ has no upgradablity right now and I don't see it having any soon whereas LGA1150 can get you all the way to an i7.
