I have been trying to install Windows 8.1 on my Macbook Pro (Early 2011)
I have partitioned my drive with enough space for the windows partition (roughly 60 GB) and keep running into an error when I try and install the windows OS.
The error comes when I try to format the partition into NTFS.
When I click format it says
I don't want to convert the whole disk to GPT because it also has my Mac OS on it. Is there anyway to convert only the windows partition to GPT without converting the Mac partition? I want to be able to run both OS on the same computer.
I have tried to convert it to GPT in cmd, but it comes up as one entire disk. I am not sure if converting the whole disk to GPT will mess up the Mac side of my computer.
Whoever can help me fix this will get +Rep!
Thanks!

The part you're installing to is unallocated so you need to hit new, click okay then proceed with install.

I have tried this but it did not work I had to convert the whole drive which included my Mac OS to GPT. Can I still boot the Mac OS in GPT?

Nope. I just lost the Mac OS partition.

Sucks dude, sorry the hear that. I would have read up on it a little more before going through with it. If you need the Apple Operating System, sometimes some Apple stores are willing to restore the computer for free just installing it for you (if you lost it completely) or buy a disk of it on the internet.
EDIT: I don't truly know how to do this, but instead of Boot Camp, partition the drive manually next time, that is what I would suggest.

I am going to buy another Macbook Pro one day and partition the drives and run Win8 (or Win 10) and have Mac OS still. Both operating systems are nice, and Macs run windows so much smoother than any other computer imo

Just restore the OS X partition from the Time Machine backup (which you should be keeping) then you're fine, or Command + R on startup when the Apple logo shows then you can try again.
