Thats actually a not bad of a build. Personally, I would change out the case but its user preference. Looks like someone's done their homework.

This nightdoctor on the other hand [ready for a rant] doesn't have a clue.

Last post he offered a crummy AMD build & this one he is saying go for a Corsair PSU.

I dont mind people inputting thier opinions around here, thats how you get a better build. But when you spread wrong information, then your not welcome.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is an amazing, well written topic about why you shouldn't recommend CX PSU'S [that is unless they are on a real special deal]

Better Case, PSU and GPU.

5 Pounds over cause I seen that your editing so I added 2TB instead of 1TB. If you can spend anymore than 600 then just switch it out for a 1TB HDD.

Thanks for this. I think I will get a 1TB SSHD rather than 2TB HDD as I would unlikely fill 1TB. (My current 500GB has lasted me about 2 years and is only just starting to get to the point where I can't really save much more space) and although not as good as an SSD, SSHDs seem to be a good compromise for not that much more money. I can always get another HDD fairly cheap in a few years if I start running out of space.

The 8 thread Xeon will help in editing, content creation and what not. SSD is beneficial for fast boot/load times. Better to get a 1TB HDD and an SSD, as opposed to a 1TB SSHD. You may want to spend a bit more on PSU if you can, 430W should just about cut it for this build though.

Thanks also. I had never heard of this CPU before but having just done a quick bit of research it looks pretty decent. I definitely like the idea of 8 threads.

Also I noticed that different people recommend different RAM and mobo although they seem very similar. What is the difference and how can you tell which is best?

RAM makes next to no difference, grab whatever you want. I recommended a single 8GB stick because the motherboard I suggested only has 2 RAM slots, this way you can add another 8GB in the future if you wish, better not to shoot yourself in the foot straight away. The motherboard I suggested is just a cheap board and I only suggested it because it allows you to fit a Xeon and what not into your budget. There really isn't a huge benefit in spending more on a motherboard, other than for extra RAM slots, SLI support, overclocking or m.2 slots. You can't overclock the Xeon anyway, and you'd need a Z97 chipset board for m.2 slots and SLI support which are going to cost considerably more. Spend a little more on motherboard if you wish, any LGA1150 motherboard will do, but you have to make sure it's mATX so that it fits in the case I suggested.
