Bradying wrotexTrickz wroteBradying wrotexTrickz wrote Mariota in my opinion. I understand where the user above is coming from, but look at Cam Newton and what he does. Even with the Panthers, Cam Newton runs a lot more than he should. And don't forget about Russell Wilson, he has the most rushing yards as a QB, he has been running a lot recently. Mariota has only gotten better as he has aged also. While throwing 40 touchdowns this year, he only got intercepted 3 times? A touchdown to interception ratio like that is almost unheard of. Winston has too many off the field distractions also.
I think the Bucs would be foolish not to take Mariota first.
Johnny Manziel, Tim Tebow, Geno Smith, etc. All rushing QB as well and look how that came out. Mariota could be another bust.
Geno Smith is not a rushing QB. His o-line sucks so he is forced to scramble.
Tim Tebow is not a bust. He is much better than a lot of the QBs in the league, the media ruined him.
Michael Vick is a scramble first QB and in his prime, was one of the best in the league.
Andrew Luck has proven to be an elite QB in the league and runs when the pocket collapses, such as Mariota, and still scrambles for first downs. The only difference is Mariota is much faster on his feet and can make plays, unlike Luck who mostly just runs out of bounds or slides. I just don't see all the hype in Winston.
Geno smith is a rushing QB. His o-line isn't horrible, he just does horrible reads. Tim Tebow is a bust. Media doesn't determine how good you are or if you play in the NFL or not? Are you serious? Coaches do.
Manziel same thing. He's horrible. You didn't mention anything about him. Pryor? Horrible. Mariota could be the same exact thing. He isn't pro ready.
Yes, the media can DESTROY a player. Tim Tebow has done something 3/4 the QBs in the league haven't, and that's win a playoff game. Your arguement with Geno Smith is still invalid, he isn't a rushing QB. Period. But if you want to believe that, you have your own opinion. You can't tell if Manziel is a bust because he has only played five NFL games. Terrelle Pryor was undrafted and went in the supplemental draft, it has nothing to do with him being a running QB, he has no arm and was just bad in general.
Here's an article that perfectly explains how the media destroyed Tebow: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

So you're basically saying the media are coaches? They can cut players? Are you stupid? & Geno is a rushing QB. If you're not like Brady, Manning, Brees, etc who stay in the pocket 90% of the time, you're a rushing QB. What about Pryor? He went undrafted, yeah so. So did Romo.

You obviously do not understand where I am coming from. Just because you're not like Brady/Manning/Brees does not mean you are a rushing QB.
You have: Andy Dalton, Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck, Ryan Tannehill, Matt Ryan, Phillip Rivers, Sam Bradford, Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, etc.
They know if the pocket collapses to either run or throwaway, unlike Brady/Manning/Brees will continue to look for a receiver and risk getting sacked. So by your logic, all of the QBs I named above are rushing QB?
And what I was saying about Pryor is he has no name in this discussion because he was never projected to be good in the first place. It is different if he was the #1 overall pick and you were talking to me.
To your argument, the media influences coaches and teams, and if you think otherwise, then you do not play close enough attention. If fans want someone to start, who is going to start? Whoever the media hypes, who is going to start? It's a business. Whatever brings the money in. If the owner wants someone to start, they are going to start. The owner is going to have the final say over the coach (most of the time). Whatever is going to make ticket sales spike and earn the franchise the most money and publicity.

Mariota is the better player. I have never liked Winston just because of his attitude.
