If you have a dell motherboard inside that case it won't be a Z chipset so the overclocking processor is useless. Also unless its a new Dell it won't likely be Haswell Refresh and BIOS support by Dell can be sketchy so play safe and get a standard Haswell. N200 is also better than Core 1000 and for a tad more you can even get the SSD in budget.

rot wrote Well, they're both over budget. Grab a 4690k instead of a 4670k. Will you be overclocking? If so, you will need to pair the "k" class CPU with a z series motherboard and look at getting a decent aftermarket cooler.As you tell I'm new to upgrading and pc gaming. If my budge was $800, how would I make this work? [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] I have a 1TB wd blue HDD and Optical drive already.
What are your current specs? How much have you got for all of your upgrades and what do you want to upgrade? If you haven't currently got an LGA1150 motherboard, the i5 won't work until you get a compatible motherboard.

If you're not overclocking, overclockable components are a waste. Grab an i5-4440. Also, screenshot doesn't work;

Assuming you have a compatible motherboard;

You could grab a 256GB MX100 instead and get a new motherboard, and/or larger/nicer case if you wish.

As long as you have a 4th generation i3, your motherboard will be compatible with the 4440. SSD will significantly improve speeds, not just for boot times, also load times and write speeds.
