I will be turning 17 in a few months time and taking my driving test, I want to start thinking about cars that will get me from A to B, I am in the UK and I do not have a set budget at the moment.
I am looking for some ideas for my first car, could some of you post some ideas that will help me.
Cheers

It all depends i saved from a youngish age and got an 07 plate mini cooper D for my first car but then wrote it off now i have a Sh*t corsa D "Limited Edition" tbh i cant wait for march to sell and get an e46 Diesel all the way tho
if your looking and interested in modding it id say a 6n polo 1.4 or a corsa c is a standard one which alot of people buy. easy to mess around with and cheapish for spare parts from people breaking them. also the new fiesta on finance might be an option as i think there quite smart but cheap to insure.
=D hope i helped

my first car was a 1.0 polo 6n. My uncle is a vw mechanic and recommended it and it was great. Did a few little light mods on it such as lowering springs, bigger alloys, and it was great for price overall. it was a 99 plate (old i know haha) but cost me 300! just over 1000 on insurance and was great on petrol.
I now have a 1.4 golf due to someone hitting me and writing my polo off but the golf isnt too bad for money either. cost me 900 and just over 1200 for insurance.

What Golf do you have? And what would you recommend the highest price I pay for a Golf or a Polo? Considering the amount of miles that the used vehicle has.
Here's some I have looked at:

If you have any, could you PM some photos of your Polo and Golf.

my old polo - 99 plate, 172k miles when written off, cost 300 for car, got some 15 inch alloys and refurbed 50, lowered it - free (springs from family member)
my currrent golf - 02 plate, 112k miles current, i think the exact model is 'Volkswagen Golf S, 1390CC Petrol', cost 900 for car, got some 18 inch r32 alloys 150
With my first car, the polo, i wasnt really bothered about year etc, i found a nice cheap, well looked after vw car. For 300 i couldnt complain, had full service history, interior and exterior was spotless.
After the polo was written off (not by me), i fancies something a bit bigger and newer. I paid 900 for the golf which was a couple hundred cheaper than the other 02 golfs i had seen.
So price you should pay all depends on the age condition etc

Thanks for all the info, might consider finding a cheap Golf for my first if I can. Is there a large difference between the golf and the polo?
Cheers
