These days not many members who have gold have paid for their premium membership as they have been gifted it. If you read this and think I'm mad for not having gold then look at what I am saying from a different point of view because I have had it a fair few times before. I honestly do miss the days when people who deserved gold were rewarded for their contribution and efforts towards the site and it's growth and not being selected via RNG sites. After all, it is nice that we see others giving other members the premium membership but half of the people who deserve it are not recognized for their acts. I'm not trying to be mean or critical but I'm just sharing my opinion. If you read this post then thank you for reading and I hope you understand where I am coming from.

I don't fully understand where you are coming from because most people that are helpful/worthy of gold are usually gifted.
It isn't unfair in anyway, it's our money and we choose the way we'd like to spend it.
Everyone deserves a chance at something whether they deserve it or not. A LOT of people that deserve gold are always gifted as quickly as it runs out however... so I don't understand.

IMO sounds like your hating. Just enter a Gold Contest and hope you win.
P.S. this belongs in The Rant section.

As I stated this is my "opinion" and I'm not "mad." It's just what I think and I wanted to see if anybody agreed with me.

I do actually understand the point you're making. It belittles the value of gold membership a little when a one post wonder can win a giveaway through luck.
Unfortunately, the usual rebukes are "it's my money, I'll do what I want", "if the good users are being gifted also, it doesn't really matter" and "maybe it'll encourage some less participating users to be more active".
After all, when I first got gifted I probably wasn't that 'deserving'. Sure, I helped out a bit but that was only in one section and both my rep count/post count was quite low. Somebody gifted me and it motivated me to try and become a part of the TTG community.

I agree somewhat.
I mean yeah, there is people who gift other members just because, but some people may actually deserve the gift of gold.
And like Ache said, it is their money, they can spend it how they want.

Most people who deserve it get recommended in the gold members watch list. And they get gifted. How is it unfair?
I gifted what I thought were deserving members. It's not unfair. Calling it unfair doesn't even make sense.
