ImClyz wrote I hate when people protest to get 15 dollars an hour for minimum wage for one minimum wage increased will just cause inflation and everyhting will be the exact same price people who go to college and have good jobs getting paid lets say 20 an hour after mini wage goes to 15 they will get 30 and candy bars will jsut be 5 dollars instead of one rofl legit they will get no where so clue why they try but hey theres a reason theyre working in mcdonalds

From the statement you made about "one minimum wage increased will just cause inflation" I know you do not know what you are talking about. Minimum wage in this country is a joke. Sure, if you go to college you will get paid more, but some people don't have that opportunity. College is a joke. You pay $15,000+ per semester for something that you can learn in a few months to a year. The only thing better than a degree is experience.

It is not possible for a person to live on $7.25 (my states minimum wage).
IF you work a full time job, which is 40+ hours you only make $290 a week.
That comes out to around $1160 a month before taxes.

A cheap apartment costs MAYBE $680, if you can get one for that cheap.
So now you have $480 left for the month.
Set aside $200 for a month of food.
Now you have $280.
At this point you don't even have enough to get a car of you need one.
Plus you need a Cell phone, $50 gone.
Now, if you want internet, that's another $50 gone.
SO you have $180 left.
But you need atleast $50 or more for gas depending on where you work.
So you have $100 left over if that.
Remember no taxes where taken out of that.

You need to realize that this is an issue. Once you move out and don't have the safety blanket that your parents provide you, then you will agree that the minimum wage needs to be more.

yeah but u have to take in account if your 7.25 (same where im at in texas ) goes to 15 dollars a hour the cost of everything else will also raise. if you raise minimum wage
Price will have to go up as well it all evens out just how it was before so dont think just cause minimum wage is 15 dollars a hour you think you will be better off. Also for all those people saying there isn't jobs that pay enough without degrees you haven't tried. There are tons of jobs in the oil field you can do without a degree and make over 75k a year -_-

You cannot support a family off minimum wage, or even yourself honestly. Then People say they should of tried harder in school, but some people had to drop out to help to pay bills for their parents or health problems or whatever. The price of living have gone up, but pay raise haven't. If it went up the price of a dvd at walmart would go up a penny......

That is not the case. Just because you raise the minimum wage doesn't mean the cost of everything will go up.

If they are to rise the wages then people would have more money to buy extra things. So, for example, if minimum wage was raised to $10 or so then people would have the extra income to buy things. More spending equates to more money going into a business. Which will stabilize the increase and everything will go back to how it is. More money in the pockets of people equates into spending. It's basic economics.

The cost of living has gone up, therefore the minimum wage should go up. Is it that hard of a concept to understand? By not raising the minimum wage you just throw more people to live on the breadline...
Apparently yes it is according to our Governments.

Minimum wage is what our economy is based off of, sadly. If we didn't have minimum wage, waiters would only get tips, and people would probably be making $5/hr at McDonalds or similar fast food joints.

I don't know why people are pretending that minimum wage was ever meant to be able to live off of.

Minimum wage = Minimum skill = High School kids learning a work ethic

See now this whole thing completely baffles me, i live in the uk and on minium wage here i can legally bring in around 1k a month, thats full time at 17. Not only that i wouldnt even be taxed on it. so its all ready beating a 30 year old man in michigan doing the same hours for minimum wage.

I feel sorry for you guys at the fact that you cant even afford to live, its really upsetting tbh, youd hope the government would do more to help but nah.
