Does anyone know if owning a bitcoin gambling website is legal? I keep trying to find it on the internet, but some website say no and some say yes, so I don't really know what to think. Does anyone on here happen to know for sure?

A few minutes searching on Google, most websites have come up with the same answer, Yes, It's legal, kind off..

There are no specific laws/regulations relating to gambling & betting with Bitcoins, so we can only assume that it would be the same laws as gambling with regular currency.

So, if Gambling with real currency is legal where you live, gambling with bitcoins should be too.

Again, none of this is factual or anything, just after reading a few articles on Google, so continue at your own risk.

Honestly I would have to say it depends on the type of gambling.

I think that putting .001 BitCoin into an online slot/table and winning/losing would be illegal.

But, there are sites that are considered online gambling sites but don't use bitcoins.

I'm just worried about things like tax evasion or something. Real casinos obviously pay taxes and stuff.

There are plenty of 3rd party Bitcoin casinos that open up daily which last long without trouble. The IRS considers any virtual currency, Bitcoin in specific, property, which needs to be reported in. So it is possible you could get into some legal trouble with taxes profiting off a Bitcoin casino. The whole matter is a gray area though. The US government hasn't been cracking down on Bitcoin enough to fully regulate and enforce laws regarding it. If you host your casino on offshore servers and don't accept US players, you'd be fine.

That's the type of thing I was trying to avoid though. I was hoping to make an easy to use website that isn't like "Yo, call my man Vlad and he'll take of you."

To own a casino isn't too hard. There are plenty of built scripts that offer dice games, roulette, ect. Just google search this information you'll easily find what you're looking to purchase to get things started. The only thing you really need is a giant Bankroll. The developed sites have thousands of Bitcoin in bankroll, some invested, and some owned by the casino. It gets expensive and the return on investment only pays off over a long period if you run it fairly. Good luck on this project if you decide to go forth with it.
