With every new COD there is more and more hate on the franchise and the developers in charge, we all know that. Even though the developers do mess some things up, I don't personally feel that it is the developers fault. I think it is mostly our fault. We all remember the days of WaW, COD 4, and MW2 and the countless hours of fun those games brought us all. I think the reason there is a lot of hate on the game is because we keep expecting to get thrown back into the old days and keep expecting the devs to recreate that environment for us even though it's gone. I may not speak for everyone, but half of the fun came from the game and the other half came from the people you were with and experiencing it for the first time. I think a lot of us that played the old ones and gripe when they come out with a new one liked the old ones because we were younger and it was good times with friends to play those games. We keep expecting to relive the old days when they are sadly gone. Nothing will ever live up to countless nights of boosting or countless rounds of zombies with friends, or countless hours of shit talking online. I think the main reason there is a lot of hate is that we can't let the old days go because of how good they were. Personally, I played the old COD's with a group of about 5 friends and over the years I have stopped talking to some of them because they have grown up and gone to college or whatever and the game lost it's luster because I have grown older and no longer have those friends to play with and the environment that it created is gone. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I think that COD will never be the same because we are comparing it to such high standards of what it was before, even if the game is developed good.

Everything comes to an end.

I believe the reason CoD is declining is because the generation that loved and supported CoD is growing up. Simple as that.

I totally agree. I started playing in 8th grade and now I'm 19 and grown and it just isn't the same as those glory days playing with friends.

Time goes on. We used to be a bunch of 12-15 year olds playing with friends on games like mw2. The only reason I bought an xbox was to play mw2. I remember sitting at gamestop crying because my mom needed to sign and say that she understand this game was for 18+ even though I was like 10. Anyways. Call of duty has tried to implement the "future" rather than the past and that is hard to do. MW2 was the number 1 selling cod because of how realistic it was. Even black ops was not that good. But I will always cherish the moments i had with friends. I still get on mw2 and play some good ol' cops and robbers. RIP COD and it has turned into halo. my worst nightmare

A major reason for the hate of these newer games is that they are changing their main focus when making them. The same thing is happening to Halo as well. Since the main consumers of both franchises are getting older and going to college, they have less money. In order for these industries and studios to continue to generate more revenue they have to aim at a younger audience, which honestly are mostly impatient and "unskilled". So to appeal to these younger audience they're making the games more noob friendly to a point where anyone can pick up the game and be good at it, which will make them feel good about buying the next game. This is just my 2 cents on the whole topic xD

For me personally, the reason why I really liked Call of Duty 4 was because there was nothing like it before, and it was very addicting. It was also addicting competing against friends and trying to beat them to certain milestones. However, I don't find the same interest in the new call of duty games because its the same thing that we have been playing for years and honestly all they are trying to do now is get as much money as they can.

Its not new and exciting anymore like it was in the past, and that is partially the reason why I don't personally play call of duty at all anymore.

i completely agree when i first picked up cod 4 omg the game was so addicting cause they did so great on it. I like advanced warfare and all but its just not the same it doesn't give that feeling where oh i did bad whatever i will do better next game its more like oh this games is way unbalanced everyone uses the same thing. I think SledgeHammer did better than Treyarch but i will always love all of infinity wards games.
