The i3 is only a dual core and quad cores are getting more needed on newer games :/

i3 Dual Core > AMD Quad core

The i3 has better per core performance

Also going with the i3 you will have more of an upgrade path

i3 has HT, OS and games are tricked into believing it's a quad core. i3 is perfectly fine and will be much better than a 6300. You have the ability to upgrade to an i5/i7/Xeon at any point as well, if you wish.
