Clannad & clannad after story it's pretty long has a great story, starts off slow!

Toradora has a very good story one of my favourite animes!

i haven't seen any other romances so i can't give you any other suggestions :/ hope this helps

Gosick was a nice romance anime, it had nice character development and there was never a lul in the story.
