So I'm a pretty athletic kid and love my sports, but I just can't seem to get motivated to continue to do them. Hear me out here I have my reasons. I've always been small and Now I'm 6'0 and I'm use to always being thrashed for being small but now I can't see reason to continue to play any sort of sport. I'm very good but it's hard with all I've got going on with schooling and doing hard subjects also with HEAPS of homework.
But I've got the opportunity to be able to go try out for the running team for my school. Running is my strong point, I'm very fast but I have one problem. I seem to suffer from having no confidence in myself because I come up with stupid reasons not to do it like "Ah people will laugh at me", "There will be someone better than me". I'm not asking for you to feel sorry for me I'm just asking what you guys do to overcome something that gets in the way of something that you love to do it'd help me out a lot, thank-you.

I tend to think positive things and I don't let the comments of other people let me down. I always put school work first so as long as you do that you will be ok. And in the long run just do what you love that's all that matters.

When I feel un-motivated I always watch a documentary on 'z' thing like basketball I'd watch a MJ documentary of Magic Johnson. For art I always watch a Warhol or Basquiat documentary/film or like 'best moments in sports' and it just gets me pumped.
So does coffee.

Well from a fellow runner, myself, I don't let other people'a views of my running get in the way. Some friends tease me about my running form, yet I always manage to beat them in a race. It's all about believing that you can do it, rather than doubting that you can do it because another person has a negative view about you. As for other people being better, this will never go away. There's always someone better. Even if you run the fastest mile in the world, there's always someone who could do a faster marathon or a faster 100m sprint than you can. Just don't care what other people think, run because you love running. (This applies to every sport, not just running.)

I drive my motivation by trying to smile, be happy and positive and listen to good music. Helps me

Try to think positive and think of the benefits for the future.

What you need to do is to start telling yourself that peoples opinions doesn't mean anything. If a person tells you something bad, just to make you feel bad, ignore them, they are idiots.
You need to focus on yourself. Focus on your goals, you want to be a runner, then go for it! Ignore everyone that says otherwise and don't mind people who will tell you that you're wrong, those people will always be there, but most of the time, they are jealous of you.
But that's "basically" what you need to work on, your self confidence.

I suffer from the same thing mate. I tend to just not turn up for training. As for getting motivated again? I'm not completely sure as I haven't hit that stage yet
