I have a compaq presario CQ57 that I rarely use. I went to check if i needed to change the thermal paste due to temps because i planned to sell it. Took it apart. Replaced paste. Reassembled. (I do this for a living so I know what I am doing) Went to power on. Turned on for 4 seconds immediately shut off

Have you reassembled it properly? Make sure no hardware is loose.

Made sure that the cpu heat sink/fan was not screwed down too tight and that you reconnected the ribbon cable for display and or ripped it?

The display has always been messed up and the heat sink i think was tightened down to far. I forget to check. (I replaced Thermal paste so that could be the problem
