If he wants it, HE WILL BUY IT whether he posts about it on TTG or not. Also remember OP, most people on here, are between the ages of 14-19 (est). So, chances are, they're not paying their own insurance anyways. So either way, you're not going to get much help with that part.

If you want to get the 350, get it. Who cares. I was making sure you know that theres more than JUST BUYING the car. Because it could come back and bite you in the ass

Pretty bold thing to say when you dad bought your car dude. Not everyone on here is 14-19 (est). Quit assuming things, still can't believe you would comment saying your car is better... Obviously your daddy bought your car. What would you have gotten had he not bought it?

Lol "pretty bold"? I can't say mine is better? I'm pretty sure you would say yours is better to. Just due to the fact that it's yours... I don't know what I would have gotten, honestly. I never had to look that far. I was lucky enough to be able to have to option to have my dad bought it. When he bought it for me, he said he would rather see me in a new, reliable car during Minnesota winters. Not to mention that I was 16 at the time, my mom lived in Minnesota, and he lives in Wisconsin. So, at the time, he felt better knowing I was in a new car while I drive to and from his house with my brother... Can you hop off my jock now? Who cares if I had a car bought for me...? Its not like I'm up talking it... I'm just saying I like mine better

Bradying wrote The good student discount for me over here in California was only about $45. If you're just getting insurance under your name and you aren't under a family plan then it'll be around $440 a month for full coverage. If you get a family plan with your dad then it'll drop down to around $170 a month. Mine currently is $340 a month. Dropped it down $100 because I got it in a plan with my sister. She's only 21 though that's why it didn't go lower. & the gas on it isn't bad. I always try to keep mine under 2rpm.

Okay, when I turn 18, I have to go on my own insurance. I could compare rates and see what is the best. Or I could own it for a year, have fun, sell it, save up, then buy like a nissan maxima or altima 2.5s and then save more money and then buy a better car when I'm 25.

Or I can try to get on my dads insurance. I'll just have to see when that point in time comes. Then again, you do live in Cali so the rates are high as hell. I live in Missouri so I don't think the rates are that high.

My car would be pretty cool too if my parents bought it. I bought my first car (corolla) and I will buy this one with a bit of help. I wish I can get a brand new car like all these other kids.

I would go with option number one, keep as much money as you can. If you insist on spending a small fortune on a beast of a vehicle that everyone will look at I will sell you my truck for 10k, I will buy a ranger for maybe 2k and pocket a bunch of cash lol.

I'm not dogging you for your dad buying your car. That was his choice. Personally, I wouldn't consider a RWD sedan reliable for Minnesota winter weather. Yes it is a reliable car but not for winter.

My point is hard to explain but, your car was given to you. No problem with that, but even if your not trying to up talk it you did with that sentence. I know you said [IN MY OPINION], but I mean obviously your car, and my car are better than a 350Z. Look at the facts on that. I wouldn't have said it was better because I am paying for it or vice versa.

In the nicest way possible, quit trying to sound like a dick. I know you may not be, but the way you word your sentences bring you off to be in these situations, and it's not the first time i've seen it Jeez. JRJ was asking for advice on his financial/auto situation. You could have been more productive to this without basically saying nope, you can't do it. When someone brought you off as a jealousy type, which I am not saying you are, you came back and made it seem like you were better than him because you had a nicer car...which your dad bought.

I hope you understand what I am trying to say Jeez. Don't take it the wrong way, and don't think i'm "hoping on your jock". Just stating the obvious.

Alright, fair enough.

And btw, my Charger is AWD above 35 degrees. So its not AS bad as you might think it is. It's still definitely not 4x4 truck, but it gets the job done unless its snowing up the ass. And even then I wouldn't have anywhere to go, thus I don't need to drive in heavy snow anyways

Anyone who got to choose what car they wanted has the best car for them. Everyone needs a car for a different reason weather they need a Geo metro because they go 100 miles round trip every day to work, or they need a truck because they have to tow / haul stuff. Everyone's car is suited to them (except the people who can only get the 1000 dollar car, unless of course that is what they need). I think my truck is better than anybody's car because it suits MY needs, not only that but I built it and put 15k into it by the age of 16 (all payed off). Sure there will always be a car that has a "1 up" on you, I like to look at the 08-15 F-350's, I would love one but an F-150 is all I need. The guy with the 350Z would probably rather a GTR, the guy with the mustang may have gotten what he wanted because it is new lol. The point it our vehicles work for us and therefore in our minds our vehicles are better than the next persons.

Just to let you know what I am talking about here my wheel bearing just went out today. That was 300 bucks I did not plan on spending. My tire could have fell off causing a lot more damage, as it sits right now my tires may be worn un-evenly (ruined tire = 400 bucks for me), my breaks may be warn un-evenly, my ball joints / ti rods may be bad etc. One problem can create a snowball effect of a ton of problems you didn't expect.

I almost purchased this car when I turned 18. But it was over 300 dollars a month. I am now 20 and own a BMW 328i and could not be happier. It is more motnhly but I can now affored it without going broke. Be wise and do not impulse buy just because of the looks of the car.

Where do you live and where you buy yourself on insurance?
