As far as long distance goes, my girlfriend and I are three hours apart, and we manage it very well.
On a side note, for those pursuing or wanting to try out long distance and need some positive reinforcement, a friend of mine and his girlfriend have been dating for 5 years and they live in separate parts of the country.
I think if you find the right person, and are willing to make that sacrifice worth it, then it's definitely worth it. But seeing as this is the Tinder/hookup generation, long distance relationships could prove to be more difficult.
