Good on you for telling her. I don't really come from a religous family so I cannot fully understand how hard it is for someone who does have religous parents.

I'm glad, personally have no respect for parents that force their religion/ideologies upon their children. Its part of the reason there is no freedom of speech/expression in middle eastern countries even today, they are forced to live a certain way, and if they don't like it, they can be executed.
We would be no better than them if we started forcing Christianity upon our children.

It is a good weight to be lifted off of your shoulders. I have never really discussed religion with my parents, because they know it really isn't important what I believe, but the morals and values they taught me will get me where I need to go. Belief is a powerful entity and it goes to show that people will die for their beliefs. I personally choose not to believe in something that causes such catastrophe and sorrow in the world today. I have no problem with people who are religious, and actually have quite a few friends that frequent church. At the end of the day, we are there for each other, and help each other out when needed, and that is all we need. I feel if you need religion to be the glue of your family, or the glue of your life, then you aren't living, and are missing out on key points in your life. A lot of people will argue that but that is because their belief has taught them differently than mine. Unity is something this world needs, and unfortunately, with all the different religions, we will not be able to achieve that. Anyways, I am catching myself rambling, point being, good job on getting that weight off of your shoulders, embrace what is presented to you, but still hold true to your values.
