My end of match stats are significantly better. I've always got more passing and rushing yards. Better down conversions. You name an aspect of the play I'm beating them. I'm even defending great and then they always pull out some miracle down and pick up like a 75 yard touchdown on something like 3rd down and 26 (Unfortunately this isn't even exaggerating!) I have a 91 rated team and my skill is clearly quite good.
My only realistic short comings are that in spite of getting this far on MUT guantlet ive only had Madden for a few weeks and this is the first Madden game ive owned despite following NFL for around 5 years now (I'm English).
I use 49ers offense and run the Gun - Empty Trey Flex formation at almost every passing down. I can't seem to work with anything else. I run curl flats, dbl slots cross and y stick mostly with this.
I read that verticals Y shake is highly effective but I'm awful at passing anything more then 15 yards.
I'm quite confused. Is there something I'm missing ? Am I just unlucky ? Are the legends unbeatable ?
Please advise !!

Avoid throwing anything past 10-15 yards, Run I-Form all game and run chew clock. I beat it on multiple accounts with a budget team with Lacy just running forward.

I did it about a month ago or so, pass very short and I ran 01 Trap along with PA Slots Cross and Eagles Flood. Each pass play I got about 15 yards guaranteed along with yards after the catch.

I run the Eagles Offense and Lions Defense, mostly running zone defenses along with some blitzes when I read the run right and shot through the right gaps. I have FS Calvin and I usered him and his height makes it a lot easier to get picks when they try to do long routes to Jerry Rice.

Mainly play smart, it took me a few tries but got it on my 4th try.

This is the same thing i used to beat the gauntlet offense wise. I recently tried it with a farm account of bronze players, and as long as you don't run the ball more than 4-5 times in a row you should be fine from the defense getting immediate block sheds. Always throw it short against the computer and if you have to take a sack instead of trying to force a pass and throwing an interception.

However, defensively I'm used to running the bengals defense so that's what i use and just switch periodically from man to zone, usually only sending three man blitz and sometimes throw in a cb to blitz from an angle.

It's pretty simple, first you need a team with players that have good stats, not necessarily a high overall. Use the any playbook, and find a run play that goes through the A or B gap, and run that play everytime. Also, make sure you're switching up running back so they don't get tired, because they will fumble if tired. Also, make sure you're protecting the ball when you feel/sense a big hit coming.

Defensively just run a cover 3 zone the whole game, and mix in some cover 2's at time. Good luck.
